The Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is one of the most rewarding short treks in Nepal, perfect for beginners and travelers with limited time. Starting from Pokhara, the trail takes you through charming villages like Tikhedhunga, Ulleri, and Ghorepani, offering a blend of cultural experience and natural beauty.

The highlight of this trek is an early morning hike to Poon Hill (3,210m), where trekkers witness a spectacular sunrise over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. The golden glow of the Himalayas creates one of the most iconic views in Nepal.

This trek is also known for its vibrant rhododendron forests (especially in spring), friendly local Gurung and Magar communities, and comfortable teahouse accommodation along the route. It is ideal for families, beginners, and photographers looking for a short yet unforgettable Himalayan experience.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Drive from Pokhara to Nayapul and begin your trek along the Modi Khola River. Walk through villages, farmlands, and suspension bridges before reaching the peaceful village of Tikhedhunga for an overnight stay in a tea house.

Today’s trek is more challenging as you climb the famous Ulleri stone staircase with thousands of steps. The trail passes through rhododendron and oak forests, offering beautiful mountain glimpses along the way. You reach Ghorepani, a charming Magar village surrounded by Himalayan peaks.

Wake up early for a sunrise hike to Poon Hill (3,210m), the highlight of the trek. Witness breathtaking panoramic views of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre, and other peaks glowing in golden sunlight. After returning to Ghorepani, continue trekking through forest trails to Tadapani for overnight stay.

Trek downhill through dense rhododendron and oak forests with stunning views of the Himalayas. Arrive at Ghandruk, one of the most beautiful Gurung villages in Nepal, known for its culture, traditional houses, and mountain scenery. Explore the village in the evening.

After breakfast, descend gently towards Nayapul through scenic villages and farmland. From Nayapul, drive back to Pokhara, marking the end of your memorable Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek.
